TD All-Stars
All Stars is TD Insurance's Annual Top Performer program and is held once a year. Recipients are invited to attend a four-day, three-night business conference at an exciting destination hosted by TDI executives to celebrate their success.
Two main segments of this event are the business session and the awards gala. The business session is a work-related conference for the All Stars to learn about the business highlights and updates. The gala is an evening soirée where winners are recognized in a formal way by their leaders for their accomplishments.
Role:
Art Direction, Animation, Design
TD wanted to create walk-in loops for both sessions, the gala and the business event. Both events have different themes for the gala it was art deco and for the business session it was retro and film. These walk-in loops will act as an intro and outro for each event, also as a buffer whenever nothing is playing on-screen.
The challenge here was coming up with two very different themes with a tight deadline.
Creative Process
First and foremost, I start process with gathering references from the web and from the client and collecting it in one space so I can take in everything no matter how small or big it will contribute to the final product.
For the gala piece I have compiled different works from behance that has an art deco & great gatsby theme. I also added pieces from different awards show such as the Grammys.
Next for the business sessions I use references from retro & silent films, old school cinemas, video games and broadway. These step of the process plays a vital role in coming up with visual identity for both events.
Execution
I start with different styleframes and work with the client in polishing it up for the final approval of their team. You can see below the early concepts of both sessions.
And here are the final styleframes for both gala and business session.
After getting approval from the client I went ahead and start expanding on these style frames such as recreating it in 3D for the gala piece to really bring in the elegant feel of art deco. And for the business I started expanding on its visual language such as adding animated textures like grunges and film burns. And also creating a 3D curtain to sell the broadway look of the event.
Main LEDs
These are the center pieces for both events, gala and business session.
Flank LEDs
These are the support pieces that goes on both ends of the main LEDs, three LEDs play all at once. Mostly this area covers the awardees names and lines of businesses.
Portrait LEDs
These pieces are placed outside of the venue and shows the awardees of each lines of businesses.
The event was huge success and the pieces I have provided helped a lot with accentuating the overall look of each session. It blended well with their themes for each night, and it helped them to give unique experiences for both events.
